GIF(Graphical Interchange Format) image format introduced on June 15, 1987, by Steve Wilhite. That GIF version called 87a and then released another enhanced version called 89a in 1989. The original version of GIF is 87a. But 89a version is supported for transparent background colors, animation delays, and storage of application-specific metadata. 89a also supports incorporating text labels as text.
The ability for animated GIFs to loop is added in September 1995 by Netscape Navigator 2.0. Facebook added support for GIF in May 2015 and Instagram also added GIF sticker story mode in January 2018.
